Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2017

Wednesday 18th to Wednesday 25th January – the theme: “Crossing Barriers” comes from Germany. 

In Lincoln church leaders are encouraged to share pulpits, wherever possible, during this week.  Everyone is invited to attend the following services:

Wednesday 18th – 12.30 pm at Burton Road Methodist Church, LN1 3LW

Thursday 19th - 12.30 pm at Ignite Elim in Moorland Community Centre,  LN6 7NH

Friday 20th – 7 pm at St. Columba’s Ecumenical Partnership, Brant Road, LN5 8RX

Saturday 21st – 7 pm at the Orthodox Church, Burton Road, LN1 3TX

Sunday 22nd  is Homeless SundayWe are all encouraged to pray for the Homeless, and for those who help them, on this day.

Monday 23rd – 12.30 pm at The Friends Meeting House (Quakers), LN1 1UR

Tuesday 24th – 7 pm at St.Peter & St.Paul R.C.Church, Skellingthorpe Road, LN6 7SU

Wednesday 25th – 12.30 pm at St.Peter in Eastgate, LN2 4AA.

On behalf of Churches Together in Lincoln & District, a Happy New Year to you all!  Here is some new information, and some reminders, about events happening from today until the end of January.

Tuesday 3rd January from 7.30 to 8.30 pm – A Taize Service at Our Lady of Lincoln Church, corner of Laughton Way and Cabourne Avenue, LN2 2HE.

Wednesday 4th January, at 2 pm – HomeMatchMaker Prayer Meeting at St. Peter in Eastgate Church, LN2 4AA.

Starting on Thursday 5th January (& 12th 19th 26th January) at 7.30 pm – A Training Course for anyone interested in Prayer Ministry for Lincoln Healing Rooms. Sunday 8th January, at 10 am – Plough Sunday Service at St. Edith’s, Coates, LN1 2DW, traditional blessing of all Winter farming activities.  Come and join local farmers and share their experiences.  Live band, country food and a warm welcome.  Supporting “Send A Cow” sustainable, family scale agriculture in Africa.

Monday 9th January, from 6.15 pm – St. Hugh’s Film & Supper Night – The 1989 film “Romero” about the work, life and death of Oscar Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador who was assassinated in 1980, will be shown at approx 7.15 pm.  Tickets for supper (Beef or Vegetable Casserole and Jacket Potato) followed by the film, cost £5, or £3 for students.  Please email: mwilford@virginmedia.com for further details.

Thursday 26th January, 7.30 pm – Lincoln Active Faith Network City Wide Prayer Meeting.  Every church in Lincoln is invited to attend the 2017 Prayer Meeting, at Alive Church, Newland, Lincoln, LN1 1XD.

Friday 27th January is Holocaust Memorial DayAn Inter-Faith commemoration service will take place at 6.30 pm at St. John the Baptist Church (corner of Sudbrooke Drive & Laughton Way) LN2 2EF.
